Roni Kobrosly Ph.D.'s Website

Hello! I'm Roni and I'm a Washington, DC-based Distinguished Engineer of Data Science @ Capital One. Previous to that, I've been a fractional CTO, Head of Data Science, an AI/ML engineer, and statistician in the tech industry. Before working the in the tech industry, I was a PhD environmental epidemiologist carrying out research @ the Icahn School of Medicine @ Mount Sinai in New York City.

I was the creator of what was called Data Compass AI, which collected 3000+ survey responses to understand how data org maturity varies across the tech industry.

I'm also the creator and maintainer of the open-source python package causal-curve. I also maintain this absurdly long list of helpful resources for data leaders and senior data ICs. I recently created the RetroFlow python package named for easily creating beautiful and minimalistic ASCII flowcharts.

I've also spoken at multiple data conferences, primarily on the topic of causal inference and also observability.

What I do and love:

  • Establishing best practices for creating impactful LLM and agentic AI efforts
  • helping orgs become more data-driven and establishing excellent processes/patterns
  • building teams and mentoring (and learning from) junior and senior data analysts, scientists, and engineers
  • architecting data, AI/ML platforms
  • keeping up to date with the constantly evolving modern data-stack
  • helping build out an organization's data strategy

I love meeting people so please don't hesitate to reach out!
